Bought a 1993 GT Talera to convert to a fixed gear - new dropouts and everything. I don't care about the butchering, but only because I have another identical one. I do have a heart.

Cool features:

  • V-brakes, because when I want to stop I want to stop;
  • 2 pairs of wheels: the original one, with a fixed hub in the back and a 22 teeth cog, plus some rubbery tires for some fixed mtb action, and a thin one, 700c track wheel in the back and 26x1.0 in the front. To use that cool front brake with both wheels, huh;
  • Custom dropouts, very long to acommodate cogs from 14 to 22 teeth and eyelet for a rear rack. Fuck front racks.

I hate the white rear wheel, but it was way cheaper than the black one. Now I carry some markers in my pocket to let people draw on them. Like a small rotating art gallery about bikes and street and friends and that kind of stuff that makes us want to ride our bikes everyday for the rest of our lives. Remind me to update in a few weeks.
